For nearly two decades, nationally recognized touring band The Clarks have been a fixture on the road, and they continue to churn out infectious pop/rock music that transcends generations.

Bass player and songwriter Greg Joseph has been a large part of the bands success, and now Josephs long-awaited CD, American Diary, is set for release on May 2 on The Clarks own King Mouse Music distributed through High Wire/Fontana.

American Diary is an 11-song collection of life, death, desire and broken hearts, told with Joseph's cynicism and dry humor that bring his characters to life. Throughout his career with The Clarks, Joseph has always put stories to sinfully infectious melodies. The album kicks off with Mississippi Mud, a song about his newfound infatuation with the state of Tennessee. Other standouts include the super infectious Tropical Depression; The List" a dark tale decrying recent school shootings in America; and The Morning After, which most closely resembles The Clarks.

Recorded at his own home Sonic Dog Studios in Pittsburgh, Joseph enlisted the help of fellow Clark Rob James; as well as Sean McDonald, David Throckmorton (drums), Ryan Hertweck, Randy Baumann and Jordan Mroziak. McDonald also served as engineer and producer on the project.

These songs are about life in America, built from the ground up and recorded with the help of my friends back home, says Joseph. Each song has a uniquely different flavor because they were written over the course of many years.

The Clarks have toured continuously over the years, sharing the stage with such bands as Matchbox 20, Barenaked Ladies, John Mayer, Train and Steely Dan to name a few, and have released nine albums to date. In 2004, The Clarks were musical guests on The Late Show with David Letterman, performing a song written by Joseph called Hell on Wheels.(view a photo of The Late Show in the Photo Area)

The Clarks were members of the Pittsburgh Post Gazettes Top 50 Cultural Forces List for 2003 as well as receiving numerous awards from the Pittsburgh City Paper. They have been featured in publications such as USA Today, The Washington Post, Philadelphia Enquirer and Billboard. In 2001, Joseph wrote a jingle for national Bud Light radio and television spots, which The Clarks performed, and the ads are still running today (2006).
