THE AVIATION BLONDES
The Aviation Blondes formed in 2006 when six boozy
friends, who were already meeting for cocktails
anyway, realized that their respective musical
abilities might make a good lineup for a band. So
they got together and made up some songs and liked
what they heard. Later, they found that they
sounded even better when they were sober. And so
they rechristened themselves the Aviation Blondes.
Bartenders throughout western PA rejoiced.
Soon the Blondes’ catchy brand of power-pop-
influenced rock ‘n roll began charming crowds
wherever they played. The winning vocal tag-team
of Lexi Rebert and Jen Fisher, both of Salena
Catalina fame, gave the songs a sexy spin that set
the band apart.
During 2006 and 2007 the Aviation Blondes cut
their teeth playing local venues in Pittsburgh,
sharing the stage with such rock luminaries as
Rocket from the Tombs, Tommy Keene, Lloyd Cole,
and Colin Hay. In 2009 the band recorded its debut
CD Edge of Forever (to be released in January 2010
on Get Hip Recordings), wrote a bumper crop of new
songs guaranteed to set up shop in your head and
never leave, and began their bid for world
domination. You have been warned.
