Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf Proclaimed February 19, 2016 Green Day "Day" in honor of the band and the help they have provided the community. The honor happened last night at the Fox Theater in Oakland during a benefit for 924 Gilman Street, a non-profit music venue in Berkeley. Green Day got their start at the Gilman Street venue and have helped them out in the past. Last night's show was a tribute to their first big hit album Dookie.
