Ol' Round Rock Slave Cemetery - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 27, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
In 1987, a friend and I went to see the Slave Cemetery in Round Rock, Tx which is where I lived at the time. One could see the little makeshift markers (stones) hand carved with names and dates...some of babies, some of mothers that had died at childbirth, and many more who were still enslaved by the white man. There seemed to be an air of sadness and grief that shrouded the lonely cemetery. That night my friend and his brother-in-law decided to write a song and the cemetery became the theme. Between my two friends (and me throwing a suggestion here and there), the song was finished and recorded in their little home studio that evening. Some of the words may be hard to understand as it was recorded to a cassette and I digitized it about 15 or 20 years later. Obviously, the tape was a tad old! :)
