DESCRIPTION:
In the 70s, the producer and Dub musician Dennis Bovel became pioneer in mixing soul and reggae music, in the UK. He generated the Lovers Rock sound. The style is nicely reflected by the music of Black Harmony, a London based band. Great covers of disco music with reggae pulsation and electronic effects made Black Harmony to break audience on BBC Radio. Don’t Let It Go To Your Head is an original song from the US singer Jean Carne, and has been retaken by several bands such as the Brand New Heavies, or the Brand Nubians, in addition to Black Harmony. In all cases, the song made a great impact, and Black Harmony’s cover was chosen as one of the soundtracks of the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is also on Groove’n Arrels ;-) – wwww.groovenarrels.org. The current version is art of the Soul Jazz Records great compilation Hustle! Reggae Disco.
