Kevin C. Halsey, son of Charles L. Halsey, Jr. & Dorothy J. Halsey (Smothers), was born in Washington, D.C., & raised in several different cities across the U.S.A. due to his father's military status.
Because of his parent's faith in God, their salvation through Jesus Christ, and their love of God's Word, Kevin was raised in a home whereby he was taught to reverence God, pray, read the Bible, and seek God for himself. Singing in church choirs as a child & teenager, & receiving a cassette tape of artist Big Daddy Kane from his father at an early age peaked his interest in music. Al though Kevin has no formal musical training, he realized that music would play an important role in his life. After receiving salvation for himself, Kevin soon realized that true life was lived only by faith in Jesus Christ, & that he had been called & anointed to proclaim the Gospel ("Good News"), through the medium of music (rapping as well as writing), & the spoken Word of God to people in all walks of life from the young to the young at heart.
In April 2002, being led by the Holy Spirit, Kevin quickly recognized that the foundation for his lyrics would have to be the Bible-God breathed & God inspired. Combining the Word of God with jazzy yet mellow sounds, Kevin also brings powerful lyrics over down home Southern bass lines guaranteed to keep your heads bobbing & your Spirits high.
Kevin's goal is "to reach & teach the hearts & souls of all ages, & to be a tool of inspiration to the masses (saints & sinners). Kevin's goal is more than just music; it's a message through ministry. Using the acronym, God's Chosen Soldier (G.C.S.), Kevin has stepped out on faith believing & knowing that he is the instrument that the Lord has chosen and is using to make a difference in the lives of those who don't know Jesus Christ, those who hear & embrace his music, & are blessed by it to the praise of God's Glory.
