We have all heard the term that quitters never win and winners never quit. On a long road taken to reach success, Young Blitz is doing what most people who start at a young age in this industry have been able to do. With his charismatic personality and undeniable swagger, he is rightfully gaining the respect that he deserves. “Forget next, he’s got now. You can tell he takes his craft serious,” speaks DJ Dre of Legion of Doom DJ’s regarding Young Blitz. He has claimed the title as “The Best Unsigned”. He is a superstar on his own terms justifiably by rejecting any stereotypes about rappers. His continued use of the term from this point on in his career has essentially transformed the phrase into a nickname for the rapper.

From Columbus, GA, a small city mostly known for its industrialized epicenter and its close proximity to Fort Benning, one of the largest military bases in the US, he as any other child had dreams of playing football in the NFL but used writing rhymes as an outlet to speak on what was going on in his environment of his East Wynnton neighborhood. Originally starting his career as a member of the Hilltop Players, they received regional success with their hit single “Pop and Shake”. After having his career being juggled around by Columbia Records, he encountered the street temptations which seem synonymous with most rap artists.

After competing in the local talent shows and showcases, he began to gain his respect as an artist. He began to distribute his music in his neighborhood which began to circulate around the city giving him the attention of the local radio stations. With the help of DJ O-3, local mixer on Foxie 105, he started doing drops to introduce the different segments in the shows which started receiving dynamic reviews from listeners demanding to hear more. With this, Young Blitz began to hit the lab and get his rhymes together.

In the spring of 2005, he moved to Atlanta with childhood friend, Michael Robinson, who had already got his feet wet within the Atlanta entertainment scene by throwing parties, interning at Hot 107.9, and doing street team work with record labels. With their strong network and constant grind, they created Hood Academy Entertainment. Acting as Co-CEO of the company, Young Blitz has a natural business sense and is fully capable of running with the top dogs in the industry.

In February 2006, Hood Academy Entertainment released Young Blitz’s first project “No Huddle Volume One” which featured major artists such as Pitbull, Stat Quo, Baby D, and Smoke of Field Mob. The label went to sell over 7,000 copies of the project independently with very little promotion, but it created a buzz which left his name ringing in the streets. Upon releasing this, he came across DJ Black Bill Gates who placed one of his songs “What Da Bizness Is” as track number one on one of his featured mixtapes “Sick Wit It 9”. This song began to circulate on the underground scene and was placed on over 30 different mixtapes.

While performing in the likes of some of the hip hop elite such as Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Outkast, Shawty Lo, and others, Young Blitz has managed to stay on top of his game and ahead of the competition. Keeping his little-bit country, little-bit city flow, he has been able to display that true lyricism is still alive in hip hop. In the fall of 2007, Young Blitz was invited on a college tour by the Legion of Doom DJ’s where he headlined alongside D.G. Yola. They visited 13 schools between October and November where they held meet and greet sessions and performed at each school, all the while gaining a huge fanbase via the internet.

At the present time, Young Blitz is in the studio working on his debut album release titled “The Scales”. He has been described as a “breath of fresh air” in the new hip hop world characterized by its “bubble gum, pop” appeal. Being able to withstand the tests of being apart of this industry, he will soon be considered one of the greats that he is claiming to be.
