PUBLISHED:  Jun 03, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
GMS Drum Company's Rob Mazzella speaks with session drummer Dylan Wissing of Indie Studio Drummer at his own Triple Colossal Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey. Dylan discusses his long career, starting with road warriors Johnny Socko, and his transition to playing with Grammy-winning, Platinum-selling, #1 chartings artists like Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Drake, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, as well as advertising clients such as AT&T, Valvoline and Banana Republic. He's been featured in Modern Drummer and DRUM! Magazines, and has performed thousands of shows across the US and Europe.

Dylan discusses his work for Grammy-winning producers and top advertising houses, and shares what's involved in creating an extremely wide variety of sounds, grooves and feels, from vintage Big band through 60s Pop and funky break beats, 70s rock and dub up to tracks for today's hottest artists and Indie singer/songwriters.

In this video, Wissing covers the tools of his trade -- the SE Series, CL Series, Grand Master, Super Vintage, and the brand new Super 70s Series concert tom kit from GMS. Snare drums are a big part of his sound, and this video covers Wissing's workhorse drums from GMS -- Brass, Aluminum, Super Vintage and Revolution Brass drums. Some cool and unique pieces from GMS are featured as well, such as a 28" GMS Super Vintage "Scotch" bass drum and the world's first GMS tom.

Great interview and footage from one of the most versatile and grooving session drummers on the scene today. Check it out!
