DESCRIPTION: Glenn Johnson - I'm Gonna Leave You. Oak label - 45rpm 1957. Hope You Enjoy!!! Glenn Johnson was one of the most active artists on the Oak Records label out of Elm City, N.C. -- Johnson may also have owned a big share of the company, which cut some better- than-fair rockabilly artists in the late 1950's. With his backing band the Acorns, Johnson began recording music for the company in early 1957, of which three songs--"Having Little Heart Attacks," "Putting It Together," and "Run Here Honey"--have resurfaced on CD. Johnson's voice was attractive in a vaguely Hank Williams-ish manner, and the Acorns had a sax-man who could blow jaunty or raunchy and a guitarist who shared solos with him so closely meshed that you'd swear it was the same guy. "Run Here Honey" was a fairly hard-rocking track, but with enough of a straight country feel that it wouldn't have alienated that audience, at least until the sax player and the guitarist share a break. Alas, the identity of the band has never been determined, and Johnson's whereabouts have been unknown since the end of the 1950's.
