DESCRIPTION:
For Girl Scouts of all ages, here are 12 memorable Girl Scout songs which have been sung by girls through the decades. This recording, a 78 rpm record, was released in 1956 (** see update). From the liner notes:

"Singing is a part of a Girl Scout's way of life! Whether hiking, sewing, raising the flag, or folk dancing, girls know that appropriate songs add enjoyment and meaning to every occasion in Scouting. In this album are found some of the best-liked songs that Girl Scouts from all parts of the country sing together in troops and camps. Some of them are your very own Girl Scout songs. Others are folk songs, rounds, and art songs that have come to have special meaning for Girl Scout groups all over the world."

As a Girl Scout growing up in the 1970s, I sang a number of these, and they still bring back some wonderful memories. Scout songs and Scout camp songs have always had a special place in my heart.
