Jazz Theory with Gil Evans: "My Ship" - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 21, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Study composition at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia! https://www.uarts.edu/academics/composition

Note: My apologies, the last chord of measure 33 should have a Db in it, not a D natural (making this chord a Bbm6/C, or Gm7b5/C; or C7susb9).

This score came from a piano reduction made by Gil Goldstein, and published in the now defunct Piano Stylist and Jazz Workshop magazine (which had many great reharms and arrangements in it). I fleshed out that piano arrangement by using the "My Ship" chart found in the publication "The Gil Evans Collection." There are a few edits needed in this score, noted in the comments below. You may also like to check out the quintet version of this harmonization found on the album "Directions In Music" with Brecker, Hargrove, Hancock, Pattituci, and Blade.
