In part one of this interview with Gerald Clayton during the 2013 Jazz Cruise, the young pianist talks about his early musical education, his first musical instrument, first paid gig and much more. Gerald performed with the Clayton Brothers, as well as in a trio with his father John Clayton on bass and Jeff Hamilton on drums. His latest album is Life Forum on Concord Jazz.
