DESCRIPTION:
Geoffrey Castle is an incredibly talented solo violinist, who not only plays acoustic violin, but electric six-string violin. This has two lower strings, allowing him to produce the sounds of a viola and cello. Geoffrey had his beginnings playing on the streets of New York City and Paris, but soon became known for his genius, and started by playing in the Tony award-winning Broadway production of M. Butterfly. Since then he has performed with many famous music artists, including all the original and current members of Heart, Blues Traveler, Buddy Miles, and Alan White of YES. He's also been a member of a band, the White Sox, which was comprised of him, Alan White, and Bernt Bodal. They played with different artists like Spike Edney (Queen), Jamie Moses (Queen, Bad Company), Tom Bowes (Tower of Power), Eric Bazilian (the Hooters) and more. He has released several critically-acclaimed albums on his label, Twisted Fiddle Records, the third being Mist On The Mountain, released in 2006, which "Zephyr" came from. I have had the pleasure of seeing Geoffrey Castle perform here in Anchorage, AK at Blues Central, and I can tell you that he is AMAZING. He uses different pedals and effects for his shows, including a 4 track looping machine, allowing him to create complicated layers of sound. But, as I said, he is a solo artist, so he does everything himself, and does it live too. He is the only musician that I know of that uses a looping machine and is still legit.
I know that back in 2010 when I saw him, (where I got Mist on the Mountain signed by him), he had been invited to be on the show America's Got Talent. On top of all that, he writes and produces most of his songs. Now, don't think that he plays boring music, because he does play traditional Celtic music, but he also plays new age, fusion, blues, jazz, funk, and yes, rock. In fact, I was able to witness him play "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd AND "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Simply put, it was jaw-dropping.
