http://www.wearethecolors.com/tributealbum1.html

Gauche is an experimental pop band from Sydney, Australia. The 5 members of Gauche hail from radically different musical backgrounds, from jazz, gypsy, classical, hip hop, circus and beyond, and the diversity and talent in Gauche has created a unique new sound in Australian music. In March 2005 Gauche released their debut album, Paints Lane, and has recently launched a remix album, repainted, featuring the cream of Sydneys electronic music producers including Xav Fijac from Decoder Ring, Deepchild, Dsico, Comatone and Vassy collaborator Jacob Cook. These discs are currently released in Australia on Invada Records . Their latest offering, Siesta Cinema is out through Vitamin from August 14 '06.

Since the release of Paints Lane, Gauche has performed to sell-out crowds at The Basement, Candys Apartment and the Civic Hotel, and have strutted their stuff at other top venues and events including the Metro, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the Hopetoun, the Mandarin Club, and the Peats Ridge Festival. Gauche has shared gigs with local and international acts like the Bird, Hermitude, Entropic, Ursula Rucker, Velure, and DJ and MC extraordinaire Jay Katz. Gauche has also been featured as celebrity DJs at the ragingly successful Purple Sneakers at the Abercrombie.

Gauche is now preparing for the August 2006 release of a third album, Siesta Cinema, which features members of Fourplay, Sidecar and Darth Vegas on strings and horns and which will be showcased at The Studio at The Sydney Opera House on October 21st. Other upcoming releases featuring Gauche are Groovescooters James Bond soundtrack project - refashioned 007, availble Setpember at http://groovescooter.com/, the Urban Shadows compilation of cinematic Aussie music and trampled, the recently released remix album from elefant traks, available at http://www.elefanttraks.com/chooser.cfm?view=releases&releaseId=44.

Gauche's music has grabbed the attention of reviewers and audiences alike:

4 stars. Its a deliciously rich album that swings through genres (jazz, electro, hip-hop and even opera) so expertly that its impossible not to fall under their spell. Vocalist Jane Sheldon pours her measured lyrics so beautifully over the moody landscapes of blips that youll want to get lost in it for days. Tim Duggan, Rolling Stone

Haunting, pretty and very pleasing. There is a faint, endearing sense of hippy innocence, yet [Paints Lane] is very sophisticated and contemporary. Sheldons cool, clear voice soars above the horizon her accuracy is tempered by a kind of throwaway sensuality It is a most attractive blending of the ethereal and the sexy. John Clare, Sydney Morning Herald, October 2005

Gauche is the most original band in Sydney and this record is absolute quality this awe-inspiringly brave yet fantastic hybrid of genres is a breath of fresh air, for Sydney and the world. Bill Code, 3dworld, May 2005

If the members of Gauche were painters rather than musicians, theyd be left-handed abstract expressionists. The five-piece have refused to stay inside the lines, preferring their colourful pieces to twist, disfigure and surprise at every sudden turn. Paris Pompor, Drum Media, April 2005

Sweet feminine charm 4 stars. Colin Gore, The Brag, June 2005

Gauche serves up a mishmash of styles, including trip hop, jazz, and drum and bass the garnish is the haunting vocals of Jane Sheldon, which float ethereally across tracks such as The Road and Savoir Faire. Caroline Botting, Sydney Central Courier, June 2005.
