Pirapiraso: Joey Ayala at TEDxDiliman - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 13, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Joey Ayala is one of the country's most respected singers. He is a soulful and reflective songwriter, and is well known for his style of music that combines the sounds of Filipino ethnic instruments with modern pop music.

Joey's "Bagong Lumad" (literally "New Native") Band also inspired the creation of the Bagong Lumad Artists Foundation, Inc. (www.blafi.org), a UNDP Responsible Party working on SiningBayan (Social Artistry) capacity-building projects with the Civil Service Commission, the Department of Education, and other NGOs in the Philippines.

The refrain of this song roughly translates as:

If you can imagine it,
You can do it.
Each step you take
Will get you to where you want to go.
Just like the trees that come from seeds
Heroic deeds
Start from one's imagination.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
