Celebrating the launch of their highly anticipated new release 'OCEAN SOUNDS', Byron Bay's FYAH WALK continues to push the boundaries of reggae in Australia with more audacity and skill with as much audacity and skill as any other act in the country.



Following the success of debut release 'Sunrise Red', FYAH WALK's epic new 14-track album 'OCEAN SOUNDS' was recorded in Melbourne over four days under the engineering expertise of producer Damien Charles (aka 'King Charlie' of the Red Eyes) then mastered by France's Daniel Fournier on a 1959 Fairchild Compressor Limiter – an extremely rare and legendary piece of sound equipment. The result is a powerful and addictive album that covers a lot of territory, revealing FYAH WALK's textured and authentic Virgin Islands reggae style. Heavy bass lines are balanced throughout by beautiful three-part harmonies and eclectic jazz infusions.
Songwriter and lead singer, Simon Jerrems bypasses over-produced roots sounds and delivers the real deal, with powerful messages of humanity that reflect his spiritual nature and alignment with the values of the Rastarfari movement. His groundbreaking collection of songs offers a wide range of rhythmic variations, from the hard-edged scatting rap and dancehall style of Long Road to the deep roots reggae grooves and lyrics of Hold On, the driving 'steppers' rhythms of love song Tell You What and the epic, anthem-like track Are You.
Simon Jerrems is joined by highly regarded local musicians Jesse Willaton (Imandan, Lion I) on lead guitar, bass guitarist Marky Power (Dubshack), Smurf on trumpet, Hugh Jones (Mystic Beats) on drumkit, Ben Ganly (Agency Dub Collective, Melbourne)on keys, Stuart Currie (The Witness) on trombone and vocals, and Sonia Leeson (CBD Dub), newest band member and accomplished vocalist.
Following a sold-out launch gig at Byron Bay's Great Northern Hotel, FYAH WALK is now set to further light up the east coast from 29 August through to December.
