SYMBIOSIS BIO:

What started many years ago as the acoustic brainchild of songwriters Micka Etheridge and Fraser Montgomery, recently came to somewhat of a close, at the Woodford Folk Festival on new years day, 2009. What we're calling "Gone Fishin"! What started as an acoustic duo, then trio, ended up a 5-piece powerhouse act that has graced many stages and festivals around the country. Symbiosis have released an EP, "Wishing Well" (2006), and a "Self Titled" debut album (2008), on their own Rhythm Drop Records, to great reviews.

The last 2 years saw Symbiosis expand their profile around Australia with intensive touring, single and album releases, festivals, high profile supports and national radio play.

Supports included national tours with high profile acts such as The Cat Empire, Resin Dogs and Muph & Plutonic, along with supports for The Hoodoo Gurus, Evermore, Old Man River and Cornerstone Roots.

Along with headlining numerous tours and high profile venues, Symbiosis have also played festivals such as: Pyramid Rock Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, St. Kilda Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Island Time Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Folk Rhythm and Life, High Vibes Festival, Renaiscance Festival, Dreaming Festival, Commonwealth Games, Maldon Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Other memorable gigs have been supporting environmental and indigenous causes, such as: the Black GST with Blue King Brown, Fair trade Festival, the Zero 7 Make Poverty History Benefit, and playing for Al Gore and his Climate Change delgates at the Victorian State Library.

Songs from both the EP and Album have had extensive radio play on local, community and nationally broadcast stations such as Triple J, ABC 774 and Radio National, PBS FM, RRR FM, 4ZZZ FM, along with recent commercial highlights, including being a ‘Hit Pick’ on Australia’s Hottest 100 countdown with their debut single "Rise Up", with over 200 commercial stations around the country playing the song.

In early 2008, songwriters Micka and Fraser, signed a publishing deal with GaGa Music, and since then have seen their music appear on a number of Australian television programs including 3 songs on AFI award winning crime series "Underbelly", along with Bondi Rescue, J TV, Scruff TV and a number of surf/skate/snow films, including "The History of Quicksilver".

In 2008, Sydney hip-hop team, Bliss and Esso, used the gypsy infused track 'Wishing Well' to create the song "$5 Steak" on their charting, ARIA Award winning 2008 album "Flying Colours".

Whatever the future holds for Symbiosis and their music, it is now a time to celebrate all that has been experienced and accomplished over the last few years. Til we all meet again in the musical landscape.

peace

Symbiosis
