The Telenovelas - Future echoes - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 14, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
'Future echoes' is the first single from the forthcoming album 'Winona, forever' by danish indie rock act 'The Telenovelas'.

Music video by: Lasse Bak Mejlvang

The video consists of old home video footage filmed by the brothers’ granddad showing their mother’s life from child to adulthood. It is primarily filmed in the family’s summer home, where parts of The Telenovelas’ debut album are also recorded.

Director Lasse Bak Mejlvang has mixed the old home videos with new footage of the band in the same location – still shot on an old 8 mm camera.

The theme of the video is in many ways related to the song but that is a lucky coincidence, as explained by lead singer Carl Juul Nielsen:

“When we talked about this music video idea it was originally meant for another song. It was really strange when it occurred to me, during the recordings, how much the video and the song has in common.”

‘Future Echoes’ is being carried forward by ringing guitars and a pulsating beat, but there’s also a underlying theme of anxiety, especially in the lead vocal and the lyrics.

“The song circles around a fusion between past and presence, and a dad who’s not capable of lifting the responsibility he’s been given. There’s a lot of that in the video as well. Without digging to deep in the family’s private affairs, the father filming wasn’t always there for the family, and I also think that his longing is noticeable in these home videos. I was astonished when I realized just how incredible the two pair.” says lead singer Carl Juul Nielsen.
