DESCRIPTION:
The Free Agents Brass Band was formed after Katrina by Ellis Joseph and Shannon Haynes in an attempt to reorganize some of the musicians scattered by the storm.

As its name suggests, the band is made up of "free agents" in the brass band community -- talented artists who, for whatever reason, don't find themselves in another band. But don't let that fool you, the Free Agents are stocked with talent and consist regularly of former members of Rebirth, Soul Rebels and the Hot 8.

Because they've yet to reach a broader appeal, the Free Agents work tirelessly at second lines, parades, weddings, birthdays and funerals, establishing their name and building a reputation as one of the more exciting bands in the city. In many ways, the Free Agents are a throwback to classic New Orleans brass bands who lived day to day on the music they played.
