Alabama Slim Blues Revue with Little Freddie King to Perform at the 2013 Blues in da Parish Festival

The 2013 Blues in da Parish Festival will be held on October 5, 2013 from 11 am to 6 pm at Docville Farm, 5125 E St Bernard Hwy in Violet, LA. Taking the stage this year from 4:30 pm - 4:30 pm will be the Alabama Slim Blues Revue featuring Little Freddie King.

Alabama Slim grew up playing in juke joints in Alabama and moved to New Orleans in the '60s. A Louisiana Music Maker Artist since 2004, his music has been heard at performances in the States and abroad, including the 25th Annual Roots of American Music Festival. Alabama Slim has performed at Lincoln Center in New York, and at multiple locations across Europe. In New Orleans, he regularly plays at Mojitos Rum Bar and Grill on Thursday nights.

Alabama Slim has also been featured in the films "Toot Blues" and "Redemption Road". Recent music releases include "Blue & Lonesome" as well as "The Mighty Flood", a hurricane Katrina-influenced album featuring Slim and blues guitarist Little Freddie King.
Born in McComb, Mississippi in 1940, Little Freddie King grew up playing alongside his blues guitar-picking father (Jessie James Martin), then rode the rails to New Orleans during the early fifties.

Honing his guitar chops at notorious joints like the Bucket of Blood, over the years he has played with notable musicians like Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Babe Stoval, Guitar Grady, Snooks Eaglin, Billy Tate, Harmonica Williams, Boogie Bill Webb, and Eddie Lang.

And more recently Freddie has performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as well as French Quarter Festival. Other USA venues have included Portsmouth Blues Festival, Savannah Music Festival, and King Biscuit Blues Festival (USA).

Internationally, Little Freddie has performed the Montreal Jazz Festival and Ottawa Blues Festival (Canada), Blues to Bop Festival (Switzerland), JVC Festival and Festival de Lille (France), Blues Estafette (Holland), Burnley Blues Festival (England), and Debrecen Jazz Festival (Hungary). With this kind of pedigree, it's easy to see why Little Freddie King is has been called "The monarch of the Crescent City blues scene".
