Turrican (level 1-4) C64 Sid Chip Music - Fred Gray - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 27, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
I'd wanted to upload some of my favorite 8-bit Commodore 64 "Sid Chip" music for quite some time, just hadn't got round to it until now. (click "Show more" for more details!)

Looking at the majority of C64 music on YouTube most of it consists of bad audio versions, either taken directly from an actual Commodore 64 with all it's quaint lack of noise reduction and glitchyness (though some might say a purer listening experience) or recorded in mono or emulated too fast.

For these tracks I've ripped the original music from the game ROM (through emulation) then converted them to lossless WAV, then I've run them through Goldwave to clean up any noise and added fade out effects where appropriate before finally converting them to 320kbps MP3. For these uploads they're compressed further to 256kbps which I can't do anything about without going HD - which seems like a waste of time for what is just music and no actual "video".

If anyone wants the 320kbps versions of these tracks then let me know and I'll put them on Dropbox. I don't have the original lossless versions though as they took up quite a lot of room.

All tracks are in full stereo. They sound better on 2-channel or 5.1 speaker setups with plenty of bass. For listening on headphones I recommend a stereo mix if you are able to, or the use of a Dolby Digital decoder such as the Earforce DSS in DD mode if your sound card supports Dolby Live. They sound just as good on an MP3 player though.

This track is the level 1-4 music from Turrican by Fred Gray. Turrican had three different music composers, the most notable of the three is Ramiro Vaca who converted Vince Dicola's music from the animated movie Transformers for use in the game.
