Four Star Youth may be a relatively new band, but after only a year together this Los Angeles based group has grown from utter obscurity to headlining major venues in and around Los Angeles Like The Key Club, House of Blues, and The Vault 350. Their rise on the local scene is even more curious, as Four Star Youth has done no major interviews, has not played with any major acts, and has received no airplay in their hometown. So how are they outdrawing almost every other band in Los Angeles?

"Word of Mouth." explains guitarist Joshua Buma. "Our fans have told everyone they know about us, their friends tell their friends, and so on. It's amazing, but even with myspace and all the other ways of getting your music out there, the old school system still works."

Four Star Youth grew as a band very quickly, getting their start in June of 2006. "After a few months people just started showing up to see what the fuss was about, and they got hooked too." After a capacity show at The House of Blues in Anaheim, FSY set their sights on the world's music mecca: Hollywood.

During this time, Four Star Youth was quietly working on its debut album "The Great Nobodies" with engineer Evan Rodaniche of the band Cage 9. Released on September 1st, the album finds FSY exploring every emotion under the sun, backed by their unique mixture of melodic and abrasive guitar textures and dynamic rhythms. A sold out show at The Key Club celebrated the release of the record, and Four Star Youth now has their sights set on the rest of the world.

In march of 2008, the band chose to split up and pursue other ventures. Check out myspace.com/boyhitscar, myspace.com/daybreakends, myspace.com/southofearth, and myspace.com/joshuabuma for future projects.
