DESCRIPTION:
Here is a song written by Rick Poss entitled "No Fun Intended" recorded by Fear of Falling.

Fear of Falling was more of a project than an actual band. After leaving MCA's Joe King Carrasco & The Crowns in June of 1983, songwriter/bassists Bruce Moody began writing and recording original material in the hopes of attracting a record label. While preparing for the recording studio, Bruce started calling some of his favorite musicians to enlist their expertise in the process.

Bruce had previously worked with songwriter/guitarist Rick Poss and drummer Rick Richards and wanted them in on the project. But, as they were both committed to other bands at the time, it would be a challenge to schedule rehearsal and recording time. Keyboardist Glover Gill had also caught Bruce's ear as a possible keyboard player on the recording sessions. After weeks of exchanging home demo recordings and working around everyone's busy schedule, a date was set to go into ACA Studios in Houston.

Producer/Engineer Andy Bradley agreed to be available for a one-hour session between 1am and 2am on February 19, 1984. One that night, instruments were hurried into the studio and set-up. The musicians began to rehearse the five songs they wanted to record that night. After the final adjustments were made, the project members took a deep breath, glanced at the big Philco clock on the studio wall and blazed through each song twice "live-in-the-studio" -- no overdubs or third takes. The result was a highly charged collection of original power pop songs.

Bruce adds, "I think it's fair to point out that the occasion for this recording session was more or less (more!) a "clandestine audition" for Glover Gill, and that he'd never heard these songs before the one run through and then we recorded the songs. Listening to this now, I'm amazed at some of the great stuff he played! Rick Richards and I had played on some of Rick P's demos of some of the songs from that night, so we were somewhat familiar with them, though I wouldn't say we were well-rehearsed as a band on these songs before they hit the tape. Also, none of the images in the video here were made on the night of this session, as only a handful of people knew about the date. The photos were made at a few other recording sessions we did together at ACA Studios and in some promo shots taken by Vanita Esphahanian".

Rick Poss remembers Andy Bradley's superb job with the on-the-fly mix, saying "most studio engineer/ record producers would find it impossible to balance live in the studio nearly as well as he does here." Also, Rick notes, "ACA was quite an important studio in the scheme of things... lots of Blues and R&B from Duke/Peacock Records was cut there, as well as a roomful of odd stuff like live Who, and Johnny Winter tapes--- things that were sometimes done mid-tour for documentation purposes".
