Fern Lindzon | Jazz at the bookstore - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 26, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
A funny thing happened on the JUNO train from Toronto to the awards ceremony in Ottawa in 2012. Toronto jazz pianist and singer Fern Lindzon struck up a conversation with the iconic Canadian singer and songwriter Ron Sexsmith. Duly inspired, she asked Ron if she could arrange one of his songs for her jazz group. Ron was enthusiastic and Fern began her search for a Sexsmith song that could work in a jazz setting, that would be fun to sing, and that no one else had covered. What about "Jazz at the Bookstore", from Ron's 2006 CD "Time Being"? So obvious. So perfect! With creative input from bassist Mike McClennan and bassist/producer George Koller, "Jazz at the Bookstore" was reborn. Not only has it become an audience favourite, it's destined to become a classic. And Ron loves it!
