Here is a fun exercise that will help get you aware of what the names of the notes are on your guitar as well as being aware of how to play the same lick in many places on your guitar neck to avoid being stuck in one box.By playing the notes and saying their name aloud you are learning where they are everywhere on the neck! It is an evolving type exercise that can be done with a metronome as well using different meter like quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes etc, to push you to get to those notes within a given tempo or creatively play licks everywhere on the neck thus achieving Neck Awareness.
