Federico Dannemann

Started studying popular guitar with private teachers at the age of 9. Self taught in Jazz, he took an active part in the young Chilean Jazz scene of the '90s. Graduates in Music Theory at the University of Chile in 2002, winning a sholarship, three years later, to take a postgraduate course at the Royal Academy of Music in London in the Jazz Performance program. Takes part in the Chilean music scene, not only in Jazz, but also in Rock, Blues and Latin American styles. In 2006 he won the Altazor Award for his composition "Tony's changes". Has worked with: Pedro Aznar, Francesca Anacarola, Cristian Cuturrufo, La Rue Morgue, Daniel Lencina, Pedro Piedra and Jazzimodo, among others.He has also lead his own Trios and Quartets as guitar player, composer and arranger. Currently co-leads the 14 piece band Quintessence.He was one of the finalists in the Gibson Jazz Guitar Competition at the 2006 Montreux Jazz Festival.
