Providing unstoppable grooves since 2005, Federation of the Disco Pimp are Scotland’s premier exponent of modern funk, featuring seven of the finest musicians in Scotland. Combining elements of Old-School Funk, Disco, Psychedelic and Jazz, this 7-piece band of Scots are legendary for their endless energy and blistering live sets.
Hailing from the city of Glasgow, they have been championed by Craig Charles on his Funk and Soul radio show on BBC6 Music, Stephen Duffy on The Jazz House BBC Radio Scotland and Christian Bragg on Jazz Fm.
Federation of the Disco Pimp host and perform at the famous club night Soul Train in Glasgow every 3 months as a tribute to the legendary 70's TV show while also making appearances at festivals like the Birmingham International Jazz Festival. This year, plans are already in progress to send the band state-side for a tour of East Coast U.S.A!
At the end of summer 2010 they set to work on their new double A-side record Gimme Some Light/Bruce Lee with Brooklyn-based producer Joel Hamilton (Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Justin Timberlake, Lettuce). This was released on the 1st December 2010. Buy it now on iTunes
