This collection is music made for everyone from peg legged saloon dancers to the most tender of longshoremen. Grit with heart. A stubborn passion born of the salt in the sea and the dust on the moon. Guaranteed to either shock your mother or leave her weeping tears of empathetic sorrow. Music to sharpen, throw, and dodge knives to. Not brewed for local consumption.Best listened to from dark corners with nary a clue of whence we came.

Founded in 2000 by Charlene Raco, Charl's Handijam for Handicapped, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that serves the terminally ill, mentally, physically and emotionally challenged in Staten Island. Its main purpose is to provide entertainment for those who get only their basic necessities met. Through local and national bands, Handijam raises funds for outings to such places as Great Adventure, WWE Wrestling events, Staten Island Yankees games, the New York Aquarium and the Bronx Zoo.
The organizations with which we work include but are not exclusive to:
The Mission of the Immaculate Virgin at Mount Loretto, caring for orphans and those removed from their homes due to abuse & neglect, most of which are mentally, physically and emotionally challenged
Rainbow's Hope, caring for terminally & chronically ill children & young adults
The GRACE Foundation & the Hungerford School, both of which service the autistic, and
Project Hospitality, a shelter for homeless families, the focus of our efforts being centered on the children.
Handijam operates strictly on donations and on the proceeds from the events that we coordinate, e.g. musical performances by local bands and national acts such as The David Nelson Band, Buddy Cage & the Electrix, Vassar Clements, The Toni Brown Band, Professor Louie & the Crowmatix and others.
