This is the third video in the series, but it actually represents ground zero for me becoming a drummer. I had always wanted a band, but it wasn't until 4th grade, when I saw the video for "Cult of Personality," that I decided that drums were going to be my instrument of choice. Will Calhoun influenced me tremendously, from his powerful, no-b.s. grooves to his commanding fills (I still use the roundhouse triplets all the time), and the ride cymbal/hi-hat interplay is downright magical.

Things I've learned, and am still working on, from studying this classic track again:

1. 16th-note builds between the snare and floor tom are incredibly difficult to keep in time and under control.
2. Sometimes all it takes is one tiny change in one measure of the the verses to keep things interesting.
3. Transitioning from triplets back to 8ths/16ths takes a lot of concentration to keep consistent.
4. The one or two beats before a fill are as important, if not more important, than the fill itself.
5. Will Calhoun is a genius.
