Evolucion had its beginnings in 2005. The bands leaders are Chris Ramirez and Sergio Mendoza from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Chris was raised listening to La Mafia, Mazz, Ruben Vela, Los Dos Gilbertos, and Little Joe so it is only natural that he would soon be playing Tejano/Conjunto music. In fact, these two have been playing music since their teens and taught themselves how to play their instruments.

At age 11, Chris played his first two-row button accordion. The following year, he was playing a three-row button Hohner accordion. By the time he was fourteen, Chris was playing the accordion for a local group named El Estilo.

Sergios musical career began at age 15 playing drums. He soon learned how to play the bajo sexto using a How to Play Bajo Sexto book purchased by his father for him. He learned the bajo sexto so he could join Cassandra in 2001.

Chris went on to play with other bands such as Javier Galvan y Fama, Marlissa Vela and Cassandra. It was with Cassandra in 2001 that he met Sergio.

In the meantime, Chris had formed the band, La Realidad, in 2000. When not playing with other local bands, he and his band were performing at local venues as La Realidad. In 2003, Sergio joined them. They continued playing locally. In 2004, they received the Best Local Group Award. This same year, they were invited to play at the South Texas Music Awards as the stage band. They performed alongside Johnny and James Arreola (Los Palominos), Jennifer Pea, Michael Salgado, DJ Kane, Jimmy Gonzalez, La Conquista, Los Guardianes del Amor, and the legendary Ramon Ayala.

In 2005, Chris, and Sergio signed their first record label contract with the independent record label, Marquise Music. However, they had witnessed the music that they had grown up listening to evolve and also wanted to evolve as a group. Hence, the bands name change, Evolucion.

On November 1, 2005, the band released their first self-titled CD, Evolucion. In the CD,. Johnny Arreola of Los Palominos appears on the CD on Ya Me Canse and plays the accordion on Por Favor. Triste is the first single.
