Atrevido had its beginnings in the year 2000 in Lubbock, Texas with Adam Garcia Sr. as the bands leader. Adam Garcia, Jr., the bands accordionist, and his brother, Eric Garcia on bass, played along with their father and uncles. As time progressed, Adam Jr. and Eric took the reins of Atrevido. In 2001, Adam Jr. became the bands leader and Eric now plays the bajo sexto.

Atrevido is well known in the West Texas area for their Mexican Regional sound and plan on introducing it to a wider audience. At a local Battle of the Bands show, the band was awarded First Place in 2002 and 2003. In 2004 and 2005, Adam Jr. was honored as the Accordionist of the Year. To date, he has not received formal accordion training so this is an extraordinary honor.

Adams accordion role models are Steve Jordan and Sunny Sauceda (Grupo Vida). Musically, Freddy Martinez, Agustin Ramirez, and many others from this same musical era have been influential. Adam is now setting his own style of music.

Atrevido is also a charitable musical group. The band has worked with several charitable organizations. In June 2005, Atrevido participated in a Family Day at the Park event sponsored by the American Red Cross and the Oscar de la Rosa Foundation in Houston, Texas.

In 2005, Atrevido signed their first record label contract with the independent record label, Marquise Music. In April 2005, the band released their first self-titled CD, Atrevido. The CD contains two songs, Que Me Des and Pensar En Mi, written by Javier Galvan of Fama. It also has two songs written by Eddie Gonzalez (Eddie G): Mi Nena and Mi Palomita. Eddie G appears on Mi Nena.

Since the CDs release, two songs have been in the top 20 in the West Texas radio area. The first single, La Cumbia de Atrevido, reached no. 2 and the latest single, Chica Sexy, is currently no. 5 and climbing.

Most recently, Atrevido has been nominated for Mejor Tejano regionally at the 2006 Premios a la Musica Latina in San Antonio, Texas.
