Ted Eustace Wins King Of Carnival Competition - Video

Ted Eustace’s ‘Crypto, King of the Galaxy’ has won the 2017 King of Carnival competition.

A release of the results was posted by the National Carnival Commission on Wednesday afternoon.

Eustace, who went into the competition as the reigning monarch, placed first after amassing 430 points for his ‘Crypto.‘ His costume cost $120,000 and took three months to assemble.

His brother, Curtis, placed second with ‘Falconidae, D’ Desert Prey’ with 415 points.

Rounding off third place in the competition was Keston Blenthum with ‘Nibenabe’ which scored 409 points.

There was a tie in the Queen of Carnival competition between Krystal Thomas’ ‘De Nebula’ and Roxanne Omalo’s ‘Sheera, The Ice Queen’ after both scored 430 points.

Rose Marie Kuru Jagessar rounded off the top three in the Senior Queens competition with her portrayal of ‘Queen Chiripaq – A tribute to Esther Theodore.’

In the Juniors competition, Samuel Jackson’s portrayal of ‘Samuel Star D Mystical Blazing Firebird’ placed first with 438 points. Ryan Sooknanan’s was close behind, having amassed 437 points for his ‘Wings of Africa.’ Rounding off third place in the Junior Kings was Denzil Forde’s portrayal of ‘I am the King of the Deep’ which earned him 401 points.

In the Junior Queens of Carnival competition, Natalia D’Abreau reigns supreme this year with her portrayal of ‘Egypt’s Beauty’ which scored 432 points.

Jermiah Walters and Ariya Lyder-Baptiste both scored 416 points to tie with ‘African Butterfly’ and ‘Candelabrum’ respectively.
