DESCRIPTION:
One of the greatest ways for me to be inspired is to try a new piece of gear, software or record in a way that is new to me. The trial and error of the creative process in an alien environment is exactly what gets my motor running.
I realized a few weeks ago that I had an old copy of Ableton Live Lite 8 that came with my Focusrite Saaffire Pro40. I see so many of my favorite artists using Ableton that I thought I'd give it a shot. So I loaded it up and dove in and found myself extremely inspired.
The clips I loaded into Launchpad were recorded by me into Ableton using the standard plug-ins that came with the program. I doctored them up at times with the stock effect plug-ins in the software. I added some out of the box hardware for various changes and parts.
I love Ableton! I have always been a Cubase user and always will be, but Ableton has some great features that just make performance a lot easier. I'll be doing a lot more with Ableton in the future.
