Howdy DrumSmackers!

Jeff had the chance to sit down with Ernie Durawa of the Texas Tornadoes during Jeff’s recent journey through Austin, TX, and boy did the two of them hit it off. Ernie was the most awesome of tour guides in Austin, and Jeff really did appreciate it! When the two sat down at the Strange Brew, they discussed Jeff’s set with the Pete Anderson Trio, Ernie’s influences and training, and his kit and tuning.

Also during his travels through the great state of Texas, Jeff was able to chat with Mikel Urdy, percussionist for Mingo Fishtrap (one of Jeff’s very favorite bands). Jeff got the low-down on their forthcoming album, from its influences to its differences from previous works.

Then, Jeff interviewed Houston local, Steve Hunter, who discussed his musical influences, his experiences in Los Angeles, and the badassness of “Cleanup Woman” by Betty Wright. Also said hello to Mike Patton, drummer with Brad Absher and the Swamp Royale, who won a battle of the bands earlier that evening!
