Mr. and Mrs. Rollins Elope at Portland's City Hall. - Video

DESCRIPTION:
December 5th 2013, Krister Rollins and Melissa Kenison eloped at Portland's City Hall unbeknownst to their friends and family.

Krister & Melissa surprised everyone that evening with this video at their birthday party. A plan they put together over the last 3 weeks.

Mr. & Mrs. Rollins had met working together at WCSH 6-TV in Portland where they still work... this is the announcement they sent to their coworkers.

So.
Melissa and I are married.
We're married and we're grateful.
Grateful to this city, this state and this newsroom.
This city because it's where we live. We got married at City Hall (see attached video). Built in 1912 (or so) after one of Portland's great fires. This city hall where last winter we were at the site of one of the first places in history to acknowledge and embrace marriage equality. Only seems right. Melissa was covering the night, I was in the audience watching the happy couples and helping corral some interviews.
This state because, hell, we both grew up here. The people and the experience we had here shaped us into the people we are today. We sprung up on the shores of Sebago Lake and found our way separately into the newsroom.
Which brings us to this newsroom. One floor in one building in one city in the entire universe.
This newsroom which has fostered our professional and personal development. This newsroom where we really found our adult lives.
Because of this newsroom, two people woke up for the first time together and found the snow had fallen.
This newsroom where we've made new memories, new adventures and -- most importantly -- new friends.
New friends, and now, new family.
So.
We're married and happy and in love.

Best,
Krister and Melissa.
