PUBLISHED:  Mar 01, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
"Poor Elijah / Tribute to Johnson" is a tribute to the old bluesman Robert Johnson. Legend says he sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads to achieve success. He was unfortunately not appreciated during his lifetime, but his mastery of the blues has influenced countless other atists. Delaney Bramlett of Delaney and Bonnie wrote the first half, "Poor Elijah", and Leon Russell wrote the second half about Robert Johnson. Delaney and Bonnie were a force in their own right; their band featured during different periods such eminent players as Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, George Harrison, Leon Russell and Dave Mason, among others. This is a live version of the song by The Black Crowes.
