Elif Caglar was born 1980, in Istanbul,Turkey. She studied "Jazz Composition" at Istanbul Bilgi University (1998-2002) with Turkey’s leading jazz musicians as professors (Randy Esen, Nukhet Ruacan, E. Ali Perret, Can Kozlu, Aydin Esen, Neset Ruacan, Selen Gulun, Imer Demirer, Ricky Ford.) She participated in Lawrence 'Butch' Morris's unique "conduction" experience and also focused on "Classical Turkish Music'" with Timur Selcuk for a year. She moved to New York to pursue a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College.(2003-2005) where she studied with Sheila Jordan and graduated with an award. She also performed at clubs in New York ( 55 Bar, Nublu, The Knitting Factory, The C-Note.) and returned to İstanbul in 2006. She’s stil singing with various bands ( The Curly Trio, Four in the Pocket, Cogito…), performing at festivals ( 17th International Istanbul Jazz Festival, CUNY Big Band Festival, 6th Alanya Jazz Days.) and teaching voice.

Ayrica Klasik Turk Muzigi dalinda Timur Selcuk ile bir sene kompozisyon teknikleri calisti. 2000 yili, Roxy Music Days birincisi grubu Bagdat Avenue’nun, “1-10" albumunun cikarilmasinin hemen ardindan,muzikal calismalarini surdurmek amaciyla New york'a gitti. Queens College, The Aaron Copland School of Music’te,"Caz Performansi" dalinda master yapti. Burada 2 sene boyunca, Sheila Jordan’in ozel ogrencisi olarak calisma firsatini elde etti. Ayni zamanda sehrin cesitli kluplerinde (55 Bar,Nublu,The C-Note,the Knitting Factory,Soul Cafe.)sahne aldi. Okulundan, "Claire Bennett Moringiello '72" odulunu alarak mezun oldu. 2006’de Istanbul'a dondu. Bugune kadar bircok festivalde de (7. & 17. Uluslararasi İstanbul Caz Festivali, 6.Alanya Caz Gunleri, 16. Adana Altin Koza Film Festivali, Cuny Big Band Festival…) yer alan Caglar, halen Istanbul'da, cesitli projelerle performans sergilemeye ( The Curly Trio, Four in the Pocket, Cogito…) ve caz vokal dersleri vermeye devam etmektedir.
