DESCRIPTION:
The great American baritone in an aria from Marvin Levy's Mourning Becomes Electra. Milnes created the role of Captain Adam Brant in the premier Met production of the opera in 1967. The Levi opera, based upon Eugene O'Neill's play of the same name (1931), did not create a big stir when it was premiered at the Met, but it was very enthusiastically received when it was revived by the New York City Opera, in a new production, in 2004.
