EIMEAR QUINN

"A beautiful young woman with a cherubs voice that floats in an ethereal cloud of its own making"

Sunday Independent

Eimear Quinn has a voice of unique beauty. It truly captivates the heart of the listener. The Dubliner joined her first choir at the age of four and at fifteen she started formal vocal training at the College of Music in Dublin. She quickly developed a passion for early music; a genre that perfectly suits the pure quality of her voice, and in 1995 joined the Celtic chamber choir ANÚNA. She sang as one of their principal soloists for a year-and-a-half in cities all over Europe and recorded two albums with the group.

It was while singing with Anúna in the glorious surroundings of St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin that songwriter Brendan Graham spotted the arresting quality of Eimear's voice - and thus changed the course of her career. He invited her to sing his composition 'THE VOICE' as Ireland's entry to the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest and she went on to win by a huge margin. You can watch the performance here.

Then the adventure began! New possibilities were presented to Eimear and she began to develop her own sound and identity by writing her own material. She has performed in Australia, America and all over Europe in major venues including The Royal Albert Hall, The Sydney State Theatre and the Vorst National Brussels. She has made many television appearances and even tried her hand at TV and radio presenting. She also holds an honours degree in music from National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

In 2001, this singer, with her haunting voice and ethereal beauty to match, co-wrote her debut solo album, THROUGH THE LENS OF A TEAR, with PÓL BRENNAN of Clannad fame & brother of Enya. Inspired by one of the most famous love stories of Western literature, the Celtic legend of Tristan and Iseult, the album, released by Decca Records International, followed her first solo release, the EP - WINTER FIRE AND SNOW. The title Through the Lens of a Tear, is inspired by a line from the Patrick Kavanagh Poem 'Primrose'.

Eimears versatility as a performer and composer brought her to the attention of SIR GEORGE MARTIN, with whom she performed in Ireland. Sir George has now taken her under the wing of his publishing company and has brought about a very exciting collaboration with SARAH CLASS, a very gifted composer and musician who has written extensively for major film and television productions in the UK and the US. This unique collaboration combines Eimears ethereal voice with Sarah's sweeping piano and string arrangements.

Other collaborative projects have included performing and co-writing the theme tune to Belgian hit drama series STILLE WATERS with Steve Willaert. She has also worked with CARLOS NUNEZ, the Galician piper, on his latest album. Eimear wrote the Lyrics and sings the lead vocal on their single, Yann Derrien that achieved number 10 in the Spanish charts in 2003.

In 2004 Eimear enjoyed enormous success in Ireland whilst working with LIAM LAWTON on his latest release, Another World. Eimears solo track Voice of an Angel became song of the week for two weeks in a row on the top radio station RTE 2FM in the run up to Christmas and the album has sold over 40,000 copies in Ireland alone.

2006 is the 10th anniversary of Eimears Eurovision win. To celebrate there is a new album called 'GATHERINGS', which features many of Eimears collaborations over the past decade.
