Tommy's passion for music began at the age of 6 when he started piano lessons, from there he went on to study classical piano at Blair School of Music. He was inspired to play the keytar from seeing Edgar Winter. He wanted to play like Rick Wakeman and have the stage presence of Ted Nugent. In the 80's and 90's, he was an innovator in using his keytar to replace the bass player position in rock bands by splitting the keys using his right hand for the bass and the left hand for the keyboard parts. In 1990, Metro Magazine's Reader's Poll voted him Nashville's Best Keyboard Player. In the late 1990's, he wanted to transition from bass to guitar parts so he formed The Synthesised Hendrix Experience where he covered all of Jimi's guitar parts on keytar. This has led him to cover the best rock guitar songs in his current band. It has taken years of practice in order for him to emulate great guitar players such as Eddie Van Halen, Richie Blackmore, and Joe Walsh.
