The Easy Aloha’s were underground heroes back in 1995 as part of the monthly Easy Tune nights at Amsterdam’s legendary RoXY club. Soon they took over the rest of the lowlands as steady openers for the Treble Spankers. Those were the days of breaking rules and blurring boundaries between the dance- and the club circuits.

The Easy Aloha’s also seduced the more fanatical radio listeners with their hit Aloha, a collaboration with Arling & Cameron, that reached number 36 on the Mega Top 50 chart. The song went on to become a cult standard within the global Easy Listening subculture (Japan, US, UK and Germany). The Aloha’s went on to play cities like Berlin, London, Hamburg, Bern, Brussels, Sarajevo, New York, Boston and Mexico City. Meanwhile they were the house DJs at Amsterdam’s West Pacific.

With Phantom Frank Gerritsen, they produced many 12-inches and remixes under the name Spy-Fi. In 2000, they released the album The Shadow Knows which received universal critical praise.

But the real adventure of recent years was on the domestic front. To stay at home with the kids, the Easy Aloha’s began to write more with pure words. Beginning as society reporters for Het Parool, they went on to become columnists and publicists for Vrij Nederland, Jazz Magazine and pop magazine Wahwah. They also released a bona fide Easy-Aloha book, Zeepaardje met een hoed op (published by Nieuw Amsterdam).

They continued to work daily on strange sound combinations and rhythms which they sent back and forth via the internet. In search of some extra magic they called in the help of some world-class musicians, all with their own unique styles: Frank Gerritsen, Benjamin Herman, David Kweksilber and the intuitive singer Sylvia van Swieten.

In 2006 the aloha’s release Cashmere Cat on Dox Records. The record embraces oriental influences, self-made samples, modular synthesizers and Hawaiian guitars.

In 2007 ‘Eddie Ekster Maakt een lied’ is released by Rubinstein and Excelsior and contains songs for children.

In 2008 the Easy Aloha’s made the soundtrack for the movie ‘Links’ by Froukje Tan, which premiered at the IFFR in Rotterdam. Currently they are working on music for fashion shows and an album recorded with Mark Lotz and Anton Goudsmit in Camp Silver at Texel.
