Folk and Blues artists as well other Americana/Roots musicians love to play. These

The Band:

Jay Ottaway Band (USA/GER)
Jay Ottaway, called by Germany’s Rockradio.de “one of the most innovative artists of
our time,” has been honored by American Songwriter Magazine, the USA Songwriting,
and the U.K. Songwriting Contests. He has toured Europe with his German-American
band for over a decade. Concerts feature his own award-winning music mixed with songs
from Bob Dylan, Neil Young and other legends. In 2014 he released his fifth CD entitled
“Carry On” which music critic Steve Braun of Rocktimes.de called his “Album of the
Year.” In 2015 “Jay Ottaway Band Live in Europe” was released to great critical acclaim.

Besides the Boston-based bandleader, the band is made up of a special group of musicians based in Cologne and Flensburg, Germany. Bass player FRANK TETZNER and Ottaway have played together for nearly two decades. Tetzner is a unique talent whose musical as well as physical presence has become a Jay Ottaway Band trademark. Also prominent to the band’s current sound is the saxophone playing of CHRISTINA CHRIST whose soulful approach to the songs adds deep color and range to the live shows. HEINZ-BERND HÖVELMANN, on lead guitar, is a well-travelled veteran of the European rock and blues scene. His driving rock guitar, epic solos, and subtle rhythms create beautiful waves of sound that have become a key part to the band’s live sonic fabric. Drummer TOM GERKE provides a solid musical foundation with his steady timing and intuitive sense of dynamics that gives the music air to breathe. Finally, newcomer CHRISTOPHER TOWN on keyboard and B3 organ has brought a new dimension to the band. Chris’s deep knowledge of blues, soul, and classic rock adds wonderful flavors, both comfortingly familiar as well as refreshingly exotic.

Der aus Boston stammende Singer-Songwriter/Produzent Jay Ottaway gehört laut Rockradio.de “zu den innovativsten Künstlern unserer Zeit." Seine hochkarätigen Kompositionen haben ihm bereits mehrere Auszeichnungen eingebracht. Er schreibt Songs, die seine Bewunderung für Künstler wie Bob Dylan, Neil Young und Eric Clapton nicht verbergen können. Sie klingen vertraut und sind dennoch neu.
