On June 10, 2013, Allyn assembled an All-Star Ensemble at Esplanade Studios in New Orleans to record his tribute to the Legendary Dizzy Gillespie. The cameras were rolling and we captured some classic frames. Manteca features NOLA Trumpet Greats Bobby Campo & Barney Floyd, absolutely in their element and reaching for the sky, along with burning solos from Jason Mingledorff on tenor sax & Rex Gregory on alto sax. With Musical Director and Arranger, Chuck Archard, leading from the bass chair, a new classic version of Manteca was born! Rounding out the ensemble, on Percussion - Michael Skinkus, Piano - Mike Esneault, Trumpets - Jimmy Weber & A.J. Pittman, Trombones - Rick Trolsen, Jeff Albert & Russell Ramirez, Saxophones - Ward Smith & Tony Dagradi. Thank You to All and Especially to Dizzy, Chano and Gil!!
