Aurum Toccata "Golden Touch" for Piano - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 25, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
This original composition is dedicated to my son Ira Aurum, born March 25th, 2014, who throughout the writing process, would express joy and interest whenever I sat down at the piano to play the piece.

Special thanks to Crabapple First Baptist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia for allowing me use their worship center and Yamaha grand piano.

Recorded with Schoeps microphones on a Sound Devices 788t.
Filmed with a Canon 5d, using Zeiss Zf series primes.

Aurum Toccata features an almost entirely linear structure. There are only 3 instances within the piece where actual chords are played. (See if you can spot them!) The rest of it features notes played singularly, but with such speed and pedaling as to give the impression of chords.

The name Aurum Toccata is derived from the word "Aurum" meaning "gold" and "Toccata", meaning "to touch" I am proud to present to you the "Golden Touch" for solo piano. Composed 2014, recorded 2015. Enjoy!

Composed, performed, recorded, filmed, mixed & edited by Daniel Montgomery.
