Martin's Dream by David Burger was written for 3 singers, piano, cello and flute and is based on the text of Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream", one of the two greatest American speeches of all time.

Performers on this recording: Cantor Shayna Postman, soprano; Ronit Wolff Hanan, mezzo soprano; and Jose Arturo Chacon, baritone.

Recorded at Harvestworks in New York City, August of 2012, Paul Howells, engineer.

Martin's Dream was premiered by Downtown Music Productions (Mimi Stern-Wolfe, conductor) at St. Mark's Church in NYC.

Burger began his career as a songwriter for Richie Havens when he scored the lead sheet for "Freedom" from the movie "Woodstock". His works have been performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and many other major concert halls.

As a boy in August,1963, David Burger spent time in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. King's speech was given a week later in Washington, D.C. In 1964, he was with a close friend of Andrew Goodman when they heard of the young Freedom Rider's murder.

This piece has been a long time coming.
