DESCRIPTION:
This is my cover of Devo's fun new wave song "Whip It" (1980). I think the lyrics are just a play on words that sort of encourage you to get over bad times by taking what control they can of the situation. It cracks me up when I hear that guy spaz out on "CA-RACK THAT WHIP!" I also like that synth hit in the bridge (starts at 1:25), it reminds me of a bell for Pavlov's dogs. :)

I played the on my modified Fender American Standard Stratocaster (with red Lace Sensor pickups in the bridge and middle positions, Grover tuners, and perloid pickguard. I ran it through my 1970s Silverface Twin Reverb with various effects. I used a Boss ME-6 for the basic overdrive/compression sound and added the E-H Neo-Clone chorus (depth low, rate 10 o'clock) and a very slight echo on my Line 6 DL4 Delay stompbox modeler (the groovy green one). To record it, I played the MP3 with my Mac on Itunes, and recorded it using the Mac's PhotoBooth program which puts it in mirror image (sorry). I used a Samson CO1U microphone with USB connection into my Mac.
