Against Myself is in its sounds and lyrics an impudent record.
The rhythm presses with the anger of those who daily fight against themselves and their dreams. The strength of rock shakes body and mind, the psychedelic ramblings drag to other dimensions, breaking the surrounding background noise: that's DVQ style.
With this latest album the Tuscan band cuts off with the past; no more Italian rock, straight forward into the international indie scene. English lyrics and full immersion in Eighties' new wave: dirty, hard and diligent these are 11 tracks of guaranteed musical impact.

"Against Myself" is an inner experience, a journey through the collision that marks existence, the fight against ourselves, the punch to the mirror. Somewhere, the opening track, opens the doors to a reassuring and regenerating dream dimension thanks to Dorothi's powerful sound engine.
On the other hand the pressing beat of Everything Is Not Forever immediately snaps off reality: "what you need comes later". The third track, Fight For Yourself, is even rougher and harder because as it states, leaving home in the most ordinary days is a fight for survival. Against Myself, the title track, is an unsettling ballad against oneself, tunes of a state of mind that divides and unites, breaks and disarms, holds and posses. "Against myself" è un disco sfrontato, nei suoni e nelle parole.
Ritmi che incalzano come e con la rabbia di chi quotidianamente lotta contro se stesso e contro i propri sogni. L'innato potenziale rock del gruppo scuote il corpo e non risparmia la mente. Le divagazioni psichedeliche trascinano verso altre dimensioni, rompendo il rumore di fondo circostante: stile DVQ.
Con questo nuovo lavoro il gruppo toscano taglia molti ponti con il passato; chiude con il rock italiano e si proietta direttamente nel panorama underground internazionale. Testi in inglese e immersione totale nella new wave anni ottanta. Sporchi, duri e solerti. 11 pezzi di sicuro impatto sonoro.

"Against myself" è un'esperienza interiore, un viaggio attraverso il conflitto che segna l'esistenza, la lotta contro sé stessi, il pugno nello specchio. Somewhere, il brano di apertura, il potente motore sonoro dei Dorothi spalanca una porta sulla dimensione onirica, il sogno che rassicura e rigenera.
La ritmica incalzante di Everything is not forever invece, aggredisce da subito la realtà:"What you need, comes later", ciò di cui hai bisogno arriva troppo tardi. Ancora più dura e metallica la terza track, Fight for yourself: perché uscire di casa nel più banale dei giorni significa lottare per sopravvivere. Against my self è l'inquietante ballata contro sé stessi che dà il titolo all'intero album, note di uno stato d'animo che divide e accomuna, rompe e disarma, tiene e detiene.
