Dorian Gray is not simply a famous literary character, but also a symbolic representation of all that exists beyond space and time. The homonymous band comes from one of the most fertile seasons of the Italian underground culture - the Nineties - and develops through memorable tours (first European band in the People's Republic of China), peculiar songs (Davide Catinari received the Lunezia best lyrics prize from the hands of Fernanda Pivano - Beat generations' Italian official translator and most relevant expert - in 1999) and a conspicuous as well as original discography ("Shamano", 1992, "Matamoros", 1995, " Il veleno della mente", 1997, "Tempi supplementari", 2003, "Forse il sole ci odia", 2008). The new course of Dorian Gray springs from this last album, and includes concerts in Italy and abroad - London, Berlin, Hamburg - and the career award received from the band during the M.E.I. (Meeting delle Etichette Indipendenti, Italian most important indie music institution) in 2009, attesting the relevant value of this project. --------------------------
Dorian Gray non è solo un personaggio letterario ma la rappresentazione simbolica di tutto ciò esiste al fuori dallo spazio e del tempo. La band che porta questo nome viene da una delle stagioni più fertili dell’underground italiano – gli anni novanta - e la sua esistenza passa attraverso tour memorabili – la prima band europea in Cina popolare – canzoni di qualità – il premio Lunezia 1999 conferito da Fernanda Pivano a Davide Catinari – e una discografia nutrita e originale – “Shamano” (1992), “Matamoros (1995) “Il Veleno della Mente”(1997), “Tempi Supplementari”(2003) “Forse il Sole ci Odia” (2008). Proprio da quest’ultimo album, uscito nel 2008, prende avvio il nuovo corso dei Dorian Gray, che comprende i concerti in Italia e all’estero – Londra, Berlino, Amburgo – e l’importante riconoscimento alla carriera istituito per la band durante il MEI 2009, recente testimonianza del valore di questo progetto.
