This site is my musical solo site. I will be sharing improvised, spontaneous, as well as thoughtfully composed recordings, with anyone who is willing, to listen. I love Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, John Petrucci, Chris Impellitteri,Frank Gambale,Tony Macalpine, Alan Holdsworth, Pat Travers, Pat Thrall, John Sikes, RobinTrower, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson, Buddy Whittington, Carlos Santana, Billy Gibbons, Andy Timmons, Dimebag, Ted Nugent, Jerry Cantrell, Eric Leifson, Elliot Easton, Rick Emmit, Tom Scholtz, Fran Cosmo, Tony Iomi, Glen Tipton, KK Downing, Gary Moore, Johnny Winter, Ace Frehley, etc last but certainly not least my very dear friend Matt Sear of the UK and founder of the Sidcup-Bexley Guitar Society. When it comes down to it there are too many influences to list them all.

I have been, around the Dallas/ Ft. Worth music scene, over 30 years. I have several talented local friends, as well, from Italy, Brazil, Germany, UK, Ireland, Scotland, Poland, France, Finland, The Netherlands, The Middle East, Russia, Romania, Taiwan, Japan, Switzerland and of course the US. Please go check them out.

I have taught privately, recorded, and helped finish projects. I have played parts, to aid when a recording needs, to sound like there is a full band. I reported retail record sales, for Billboard Magazine, in the early 80's, when I worked, in the retail division, for Capitol Records. I have years of stage experience. I went to East Texas State, on a music scholarship, in 1977. I was also noted, in the Who's Who section of the Harder Beat Magazine, two years, in a row, for promotion, as well as winning a Harder Beat Showcase, with my band "Those Guys". This was, in the decade of the 1990's.

I hope you enjoy what I love doing most which is playing, writing music, and letting myself go. The listener's satisfaction is what I aspire, to achieve. More stuff to come! Come on back and listen. PLEASE? Thanks for visiting!!!

Donster

So much of what we might refer to as “guitar music” is simply an excuse for an ego trip, this is simply NOT the case with Donster. The melodies and sense of harmony are fully formed here. This is a true musician who happens to be a guitar virtuoso as well.

His recordings are dense, very well produced and full of different textures. Apart from a very recognizable central guitar tone, there is also great use of the guitar in various other support roles that create the sonic landscape over which the main lines are laid. That said, this is not simply soundtrack music for guitar, there is plenty of shredding here for the guitar junkie as well. The real feat achieved by Donster is that rare combination of guitar virtuosity and solid musical composition as well. Too often one becomes subservient to the other and that is a trap that Donster never falls into.

There are definite comparisons that could be made here to Steve Vai or Joe Satriani but not just because of the great guitar playing but because like these giants of the instrument, Donster has a real sense of the entire composition rather than just where his guitar fits into the scheme of things.

So, if you want guitar music where the rest of the music is fully formed as well then check out Donster, you won’t be disappointed! John Nagel, Dublin, Ireland
