Barry Gutteridge,or Barry G,was born in the the small town of Jarrow,North East of England Famous for its religious and industrial background in July of 1954,His parents and grandparents who lived through the depression of the thirties and second world
war,Were all piano players,and singers,And they would always be part of getting the party atmosphere into the swing of things .And in those days, Every Home Club Pub and Theatre had a piano.So it would not be long before Barry would be getting in on the act as well,So it was at the age of 2, Barry first sang in the Civic Centre in Jarrow, Being held in his dads arms,While his 5 year old
brother Neil was tinkering with the ivories who later became a classical and piano teacher,No suprise there.This lad is keen they were saying. And that was the start of a career spanning over 35 years,Singing Impressions, playing the guitar,Entertaining crowds up and down the country's workingmens clubs, You can also hear Barry singing on his local radio station BBC radio Newcastle.
He has also worked in television with the late Bob Peck in Catherine Cooksons. BlackVelvet Gown, Spender,a Detective series with Jimmy Nail. Byker Grove,a Children's media series, Our friends in the north, and feature film Billy Elliot,
both all about the miners strike which is always close to Barry's heart,For the mining industry and shipbuilding has all gone now with it some lovely people and a whole community, Barry has a unique talent his love of entertaining has been shared with us all who have been in his company,His outstanding Fundraising achievements for cancer research and his local hospice are to have an editorial in his local newspaper,Watch this space,Barry lost his lovely partner Dot
4 years ago to this disease,And through his music and entertaining hopes to help ease the suffering to all the people and family's affected by it.He pays tribute to the strength of his two sons two daughters His grandson and grand daughter.Who he loves very much.
